Quote of the Week

“When life gets you down, want to know what you’ve gotta do? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.”

~Dory, Finding Nemo~

I'm convinced of this: Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they're stones that don't matter. As long as you're breathing, it's never too late to do some good. Maya Angelou

Reading Presentations

My reading class used Scholastic News to create presentations to share with their classmates. Each group was given an article to report on, research, and present to the class. They were graded on relevance, coverage of topic, presentation, and listening skills. Some of the groups used posters while others used PowerPoint and created a mock newscast.

Dissecting Owl Pellets

Last week, my homeroom class had the pleasure of finding out what an owl had eaten by dissecting it's pellet. Did you know that an owl eats its prey whole? The non-digestible matter eaten by the owl is then regurgitated out through the mouth of the owl into a pellet. The pellet contains hair and bones of the recent meal of the owl. At first the students were a little disgusted but then they dug in and were able to find out what their owl had been eating!
