5th Grade Explorers

My class just finished up a Native Americans Unit in Social Studies and now we are starting Explorers. To get them excited about early explorers, they became explorers too! We went into the outdoor classroom and imagined that we were the first people there. They took notes in their Explorer Journals and drew sketches of what they saw. It was a perfect 75 degree February day! The kids found raccoon tracks, rabbit droppings, a crawdad, cattails, trees budding and much more.
